Africa-Press – Angola. The commemorations of the 4th of April, the day of Peace and National Reconciliation in Angola, will be marked, in Huambo, with the inauguration of social infrastructures in the municipality of Caála, stage of the provincial act.

It is a school with 12 classrooms, another with four, both located in the municipal seat, and a thermal power plant to supply electricity to the commune of Catata, executed within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).

The aforementioned projects, whose entry into operation will contribute to improving the living conditions of the municipality’s population, cost more than 200 million kwanzas to the State coffers.

Still within the framework of the commemorative day of the 4th of April, which takes place under the motto: “21 years of peace – building a better Angola”, the municipal cemetery will be reopened in Caála, which was also expanded within the framework of the implementation of the PIIM, with a budget in the order of Kz 12 million.

This Sunday, the municipal administrator, Ruben Isaías Etome, considered the level of execution of the plan satisfactory, whose actions have contributed to the improvement of the living conditions of the populations of the municipality, with emphasis on the effective reduction of asymmetries social in communities.

In the municipality of Caála, one of 11 in the province of Huambo, 33 projects are registered under the PIIM, an initiative of the Government approved in 2019, of which 17 are public investment and 16 are related to the acquisition of various goods and services, of which 26 have already been completed.

The implementation of the plan, in that region, has a global financing portfolio valued at AOA 2 billion, of which AA 1,500,000 have already been made available.

Among those completed, the resealing of 8.5 kilometers of road stands out, two in the municipal seat, three in the communal village of Calenga, two in Cuima and one kilometer in Catata.

Also included in this list are the construction of health centers in the municipalities of Catata, Cuima and Calenga, the expansion and improvement of the access road to the municipal cemetery, as well as the acquisition of basic sanitation means and generator sets for electrical production.

Since the end of last year, at the municipal headquarters, resealing works have been under way on another 8.5 kilometers of roads, two school units (one with five classrooms and the other with 12 classes), a sports court and the palace of the administrator.

This year, the PIIM registered the insertion of three new projects that were being executed, since 2014, under the Public Investment Programme.

Residents get involved in cleaning the city of Caála

To salute the day of peace and national reconciliation in Angola, more than 300 citizens of the municipality of Caála participated in a cleaning campaign in the arteries of the municipal headquarters and surroundings.

The activity, an initiative of the Local Administration, was carried out simultaneously in the towns of Catata, Cuima and Calenga, with the aim of improving basic sanitation.

The peace that Angola has been experiencing for 21 years is the result of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Angolan Government and UNITA, on April 4, 2002, in the city of Luena, Moxico province.
