Africa-Press – Angola. Four hundred and twenty-nine thousand, nine hundred and three dollars (USD 1 is worth 832 kz) were made available, this Thursday, by the Government of Japan to support demining projects and construction of two schools in Angola.

The amount was confirmed by the Japanese ambassador to Angola, Suzuki Toru, during the signing of three cooperation agreements with those responsible for Norwegian People’s Aid, Robert lga Afedra, the Ferraz Bomboko first cycle school, Francisco Neto Augusto, and of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Victor Sequeira Gutierrez.

For demining, Japan will grant 287 thousand and 616 dollars to Popular Aid of Norway (APN), to clear an area of ​​approximately 490 thousand square meters, in two municipalities in the province of Bengo.

For education, 70 thousand and 875 dollars will be made available to the Salesians of Dom Bosco, for the construction of a primary school in the district of Mulenvos, in Luanda, and 71 thousand and 412 dollars for the improvement and expansion of ten classrooms in the secondary school Ferraz Bomboko, in the province of Huambo.

In the end, the ambassador said that these three agreements will join the 77 projects implemented in Angola, in various areas, since 1990, hoping that the agreements will contribute to the economic development of Angola and deepen relations between the two countries.

In turn, Francisco Augusto, head of the first cycle of secondary education in Huambo, Ferraz Bomboko, said that the project will contribute to improving the quality of the teaching and learning process.

He made it known that the school continues to develop a project for 36 classrooms and two multi-sports fields.

The national director of Norwegian People’s Aid, Robert lga Afedra, recalled that demining is a fundamental catalyst for the country’s socio-economic transformation and development.

He mentioned that since 2016, his institution has received three donations through this embassy, ​​in support of humanitarian demining work, totaling more than 680 thousand dollars.

The director of the Salesians of Dom Bosco, Victor Sequeira Gutierrez, thanked them for the support and expressed their intention to receive other support from the Government of Japan, as they have many education, training and development projects for the people.
