Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary general of OMA, Joana Tomás, urged, this Friday, in Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, the leaders and staff of the organization to work harder with a view to revitalizing the basic structures at national level.

According to the leader of the women’s branch of the MPLA, who was speaking to the press, as part of her three-day visit to the region, the aim of this exercise is to assess the “health of the organization”.

“We are going to find out about the health of our organization at the grassroots, the number of members, where they are and how they are structured”, he underlined.

Joana Tomás did not rule out the possibility of changing some points of the statutes that govern the women’s organization of the MPLA, but without going into details, stressing that this process involves listening to the bases that must agree or not in this sense.

He also referred to the last general elections held in August 2022 in the country, stressing that a deep reflection on their general results had already been made by his organization, which addressed the conclusions to the central direction of the MPLA.

The secretary general of OMA, said that the document also mirrors, in a self-critical way, social issues that concern her organization and Angolan citizens, in addition to containing recommendations on the need for greater supervision of works being carried out throughout the country. National territory.

In terms of the organization’s work, the official made it known that the note sent to the party recommends strengthening mobilization for the entry of more militants in the organization, with a view to strengthening the base structures and improving and correcting the negative aspects.

The agenda for the visit of the OMA secretary general to Zaire includes, for this Friday, a meeting with militants, a visit to the aviary project of the Grys cooperative, in Mbanza Kongo, where she will deliver some chicks.

A visit is also planned to a cooperative made up of women, called Nkento, in the village of Matombe, on the outskirts of the city of Mbanza Kongo.

The OMA entourage includes members of the national secretariat and provincial secretaries or their representatives from the provinces of Bengo, Cuanza Norte, Uíge and Cabinda.
