Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, returned Tuesday to Luanda from Brasília (Brazil).

At the “4 de Fevereiro” airport, in Luanda, the Head of State received greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, members of the Executive and senior officials from his office.

In Brasilia, the Head of State attended the investiture ceremony of the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in an act that took place on Sunday (1).

In addition to participating in the inauguration ceremony, João Lourenço met with the presidents of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta and Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoko Embaló.

In Brasília, the Angolan Head of State also met with the first deputy prime minister of Ukraine, Yuliia Svyrydenko, and with the president of the Parliament of Algeria, Ibrahim Boughali, among other entities.

Angola and Brazil cooperate in the sectors of agriculture, energy, immigration, animal/plant health, education, health, technical cooperation and diplomatic consultations.

The two States also cooperate in the areas of science, technology, culture, fisheries, petroleum, environment, communication, trade and transport.

Brazil was the first country in the world to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975.
