Africa-Press – Angola. The National Judo Championships in the categories of cadets, juniors and seniors, of both sexes, will take place on the 3rd and 4th of September at the Osvaldo Serra Van-dúnen pavilion, in the province of Huambo.
The secretary general of the provincial Judo Association, José Castro, informed that the advance group of the Angolan Judo Federation will arrive tomorrow in the city of Huambo, to deal with the technical and administrative issues of the competition with the affiliate.
José Castro explained that Huambo will host, for the first time, a National Championship in the categories of cadets and juniors, so he praises the initiative of the National Judo Federation for choosing the province. We are doing everything possible to make the championship a success”.
The official explained that the teams that will compete in the championship are those that have been selected at the provincial level, and registration will begin on Friday, followed by a technical meeting, with the participation of the teams’ representatives. On Saturday, the individual competition starts and on Sunday the semi-finals are played.
According to the championship’s regulations, José Castro revealed that athletes who present themselves with unhygienic and torn kimonos will be automatically disqualified.
According to the associative director, the teams will be represented in each of the weight categories, and the dispute will be in the individual direct elimination system, in the categories of minus 50 kg, -55 kg, -59 kg, 62 kg and above of 79 kg in females. For the men’s sector, they will compete in under 60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg, -81 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg and over 100 kg.
