Africa-Press – Angola. The Bayona academy in the municipality of Huambo was crowned, on Sunday night, senior provincial Karate-do champion, by teams, for both sexes.
The team achieved the feat by defeating Ok Nawa, from Bailundo, in second place in the final, winning the trophy for the second consecutive time.
In third place in the championship, played in Opem Kata, individual and team combat, was AKRH, from the municipality of Huambo.
In individual, in the women’s sector, the winner was the Kamecaze academy of the municipality of Huambo, with two gold medals and one silver, seconded by Resistência, also from Huambo, with one gold, one silver and five bronze.
Ok Nawa, from Bailundo, with five silver and one bronze, was in third place.
The provincial championship also had the participation of the academy of the municipality of Caála, in an event that brought together more than 150 competitors.
At the end of the competition, the president of the provincial Karate-do Association, Pedro Quissingui, made a positive assessment taking into account the high competitive level demonstrated by the participants.
He referred that, with the conclusion of the provincial, works will be developed in the coming days with the winners in the individual categories and others according to their respective performances in the present edition.
The objective, according to him, is to form the provincial selection, with a total of 18 members, and start preparations aiming at the National Championship, scheduled for next May, in Cabinda.
He pointed out as a goal in the national, the improvement of the third place in individual achieved in the last edition, held in this city.
Pedro Quissingui considered, on the other hand, the current state of the sport in the province to be satisfactory, due to the progressive increase in the number of practitioners.
According to the official, the Association he directs controls more than a thousand athletes organized in 30 academies based in the 11 municipalities of Huambo.
