Africa-Press – Angola. The king of Ombala ya Nalueque, Cunene province, Mário Shatipamba, considered Wednesday, in Ondjiva, that the withdrawal of the gasoline subsidy is an assertive measure of the Angolan Executive, for the dynamization of the country’s economy.
He said that the measure itself was already expected, taking into account that, at the level of countries in the SADC region, Angola is the only one with lower fuel prices and its derivatives.
“In my humble opinion, I think that this measure taken by the Government is normal, despite the lack of greater publicity that would facilitate a better understanding by the citizens, before being implemented”, he said.
He referred that it will only be a question that will take a little time for people to understand the advantages of this measure, taking into account that the Executive is making efforts to balance and make the economy more sustainable.
He encouraged the population to remain calm and not get involved in acts of turbulence and other demonstrations that result in deaths and vandalism of public property, as occurred in some provinces of the country.
On the other hand, he suggested that the Government urgently continue to take new measures that may contribute to balancing the national economy, depending on the reality experienced, with the rise in food prices.
He also recalled that there would be no reason for the prices of products to change, what can be seen is an advantage on the part of economic agents, because the trucks that transport goods use diesel.
Mário Shatipamba asked the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Security (ANIESA) and related bodies to intensify inspection actions to prevent price speculation.
