Kwata Kanawa: “Humble and serene person”

Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Malanje, Norberto dos Santos Kwata Kanawa, described the former President of the Republic as a humble and serene person who for 38 years directed the destiny of the Nation in the midst of enormous sacrifices.

“The former President of the Republic won the peace that we are all now defending, as well as national unity”, he said.

When referring to the qualities of José Eduardo dos Santos, Kwata Kanawa considered that, despite the fact that he was someone of few words, “when he conveyed some guidance, he did it with the certainty that it is necessary to go ahead”. “He was a good patriot and future generations have to defend this peace and national reconciliation so that our country can take the next steps,” he said.

Kwata Kanawa remembers when he was called to be the provincial commissioner of Lunda-Norte. He says it was a surprise for him. “I wasn’t expecting it and then I held other positions at the ministerial level and also when he sent me here to Malanje. He sent for me and told me that he was thinking of me to come to Malanje. I had many moments when I presented the problems to him. and my vision, even in our meetings of the Government and the party, I always put it with all the serenity and humility that have always characterized him, sometimes he did not speak, but we guessed that, in his humility and serenity, he tried to transform the words that people gave him strategies for the future,” he said.

The Malanje provincial commander of the National Police, Commissioner Timóteo Hilário, said that one of the best memories that Angolans should have of José Eduardo dos Santos is the fact that he promoted peace and national reconciliation.

The commissioner defended that young people should imitate the positive way that the former President had, with positive actions, training, studies and knowing how to be in society, to honor his memory in the best way.
