Africa-Press – Angola. More than 649 million and 206 thousand kwanzas have been disbursed since March 2020 to the present date, in the Kwenda program, having benefited 18 thousand and 663 households, within the framework of strengthening social protection in Cuando Cubango.
These are family members who benefited from the cash transfer program residing in the municipalities of Cuito Cuanavale and Cuchi, in an action that is contributing to improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of these two municipalities, of the nine that make up the province of Cuando Cubango.
Speaking to the press today, Tuesday, the head of provincial services at the Local Development Institute in Cuando Cubango, Zeferino Cavalo, explained that local services are finalizing the logistics for the payment, for the first time, starting in April close, of more than four thousand and 500 households in the municipality of Rivungo.
The official assured that the aforementioned payment to Rivungo, where the registration of beneficiaries took place at the end of December 2022, will be made in two installments, corresponding to six months, for a universe of 26 thousand 604 people, which corresponds to a universe more than four thousand households.
Zeferino Cavalo explained that, at the level of Cuando Cubango, 28,544 families have been registered so far, specifically in Cuito Cuanavale, Cuchi and Rivungo.
He promised that throughout the current year, within the scope of productive inclusion, the peasant families of Cuito Cuanavale will be supported, through the municipal administrations, in horticulture and artisanal fishing, and increase the production capacity of butter beans and iron for the Cuchi.
After Rivungo, a municipality on the border with Zambia, on the eastern side and more than 800 kilometers from Menongue, the capital of Cuando Cubango, the Program for Strengthening the Social Protection System for Families will be extended to the municipalities of Dirico and Cuangar, during the second half of the current year.
He assured that, despite the great difficulties faced in accessing the interior of the province of Cuando Cubango, which has caused delays in the implementation of Kwenda in the interior of Cuando Cubango, the program will be expanded to allow the achievement of the objectives of the Executive in this regard, at the level of that region .
