Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-two thousand and 297 households were registered, this year, in the municipality of Cassongue (Cuanza Sul), by the Institute of Local Development (FAS), with a view to receiving the monetary values ​​of the Kwenda project, I learned, this Sunday.

According to a note from FAS, the registration process went smoothly in all communes and districts of the municipality and was promoted by community agents, in collaboration with technicians from FAS and the municipal administration.

At this moment, says the document, the validation process of the provisional lists of registered families is taking place, in order to identify the households ineligible for the program.

“The FAS has been carrying out, since June 5th, in the fixed points/neighborhoods, the process of validating the provisional lists, with a view to identifying ineligible households. It is the moment when the registered families have the opportunity to consult their names and present possible complaints”, stresses the note.

The municipality of Cassongue is the fourth in the province of Cuanza Sul covered by the Kwenda program and will be the first to benefit from the increase in value, from 8,500 kwanzas to 11,000 kz monthly, to be paid quarterly.

In Cuanza Sul, 117,402 households from the municipalities of Seles, Ebo, Quilenda and Cassongue are registered.

Of this number, 65 thousand and 564 families received a quarterly income of 25,500 kwanzas, through Social Monetary Transfers, in the period from 2021 to 2022.

Created in 2020, Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program, which aims to create policies to support the most vulnerable families.

Operationalized by the Social Support Fund, the project lasts for three years and covers four components, namely Social Monetary Transfers, Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and Reinforcement of the Single Social Register.

It is valued at USD 420 million and is funded by the World Bank with USD 320 million. The other 100 million come from the National Treasury.
