Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of UNITA, Mardanês Calunga, considered Friday, in this city, that the institutionalization of local authorities in the country constitutes a means of deepening democracy and citizens’ participation in public life.
According to the politician, this governance model also gives communities the possibility of managing their own problems on their own, which is why he reiterated the need for its implementation in due time.
Speaking at the opening of the IV Ordinary Meeting of the UNITA Provincial Secretariat, Mardanês Calunga highlighted that, alongside local authorities, the Angolan State has other challenges aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens, in which everyone is called to participate.
Meanwhile, the UNITA secretary highlighted the water potential of Malanje, which should be used to distribute drinking water to the population, especially in the Carreira de Tiro neighborhood, through the expansion of government projects for household connections, including energy, as Many residents still lack these services.
Regarding the meeting, the deputy also said that it should serve as a reflection on social problems, in addition to evaluating the functioning of the party’s base structures, the degree of fulfillment of the 2023 actions and improving the methods of carrying out political tasks.
Running until the end of the day under the motto: National Mobilization for Local Authorities, the meeting will be attended by delegates and party activists from the 14 municipalities of Malanje.
