Africa-Press – Angola. The provinces of Luanda and Huambo hold today, at the Union of Angolan Writers, at 10 am and at the Provincial Library of Huambo, at 3 pm, the casting for the qualification for the provincial phase of the National Trova Contest “Cantar Neto”.

Eliseu Major, secretary general of the National Union of Artists and Composers – Society of Authors (UNAC-SA) told Jornal de Angola yesterday that the two provinces will start today because they have the largest number of candidates.

Cabinda and Benguela will be the next provinces to hold the casting call scheduled for the 31st of this month, while the rest still have less than ten candidates, so it will be held in a single day, according to Eliseu Major.

The first National Trova Competition “Cantar Neto” is part of the commemorations of the centenary of Agostinho Neto, which takes place on September 17. The final of the national competition will be held on September 10, at the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, in Luanda .

The contest will have an annual periodicity, in this edition it aims to reward the musicalization in trova style, of poems by the honoree. The contest is open to all guitar and voice players, ie solo troubadours, duets, trios, accompanied by light percussion instruments.
