Luanda urban mobility will have 700 more buses

Africa-Press – Angola. The province of Luanda will soon benefit from another 700 buses, with a view to improving the urban mobility of citizens, announced the president of the MPLA, João Lourenço.

The new buses will reinforce the fleet of 870 buses that are in circulation. He referred, therefore, that the province of Luanda will have, in total, 1,500 specialized means, which will ease the collective passenger transport network.

The MPLA candidate provided the information during the mass political act, held in Luanda, in Camama, which marked the opening of the electoral campaign. João Lourenço acknowledged, by the way, that the number of buses may not be enough to meet the demand of the capital, “but they will be much closer to the number needed to serve the province of Luanda”.

On the occasion, President João Lourenço highlighted the need to combine other forms of transport, in addition to buses, to help the mobility of “our citizens from work to home, and from home to work, as well as students who need to go to school and universities”.

“We will have to introduce other modes of transport, to represent the good work that buses have been performing”, stressed the MPLA leader. During the mass act, which took place in the district of Camama, Talatona, which welcomed thousands of militants, João Lourenço guaranteed the continuity of the construction of the Corimba viaduct, commonly known as the “arm” of Corimba, inaugurated earlier this year.

The MPLA candidate for President of the Republic underlined that “the bridge will continue, in order to carry out the project, according to the initial design of the work”. “We did not proceed beforehand, because there was no financial capacity, above all, to carry out the task at once. Now, in the second term, we are going to attack with force the pursuit of the Marginal da Corimba”, he guaranteed.

The project, he acknowledged, will provide more dignity to the population of that area and beyond. The Corimba viaduct, he continued, will connect the Gove bridge.

The MPLA leader said that efforts are being made to widen the Kifangondo-Caxito road, in the northern part of the city of Luanda. The road, he explained, will be widened, as will the exit from the southern part of the capital, towards Cabolombo and Barra do Kwanza, making life easier for citizens who want to travel to other provinces.

Citizens who want to travel to Zaire, Uíge, Cuanza-Sul, Benguela, Huíla or Huambo will have their lives easier with the widening of these roads, said MPLA president João Lourenço.
