Africa-Press – Angola. The asphalting works of the Luau/Luacano/Cameia section, three municipalities in the province of Moxico, over a length of 156 kilometres, are at an intervention level above 53 percent, equivalent to 90 kilometres, according to the deputy director of the project, Miguel Trindade.
The official was speaking to the press on Thursday, as part of a visit to verify the works, in charge of the company AFAVIAS, carried out by the Governor, Ernesto Muangala, in the municipality of Luau.
He detailed that 63 kilometers of the road section have already benefited from the sub-base layer, 18 kilometers from the base layer, and work is underway to place glue for the implementation of the asphalt.
The construction of this section, valued at 183 billion, 490 million, 210 thousand kwanzas, has a 3-year term, whose work is being carried out by 600 people.
As for the construction of the Marco25 (Luau) / Cazombo section, in the municipality of Alto Zambezi, with 192 kms, another structuring project for the province, the works are also underway, according to the planning manager of the work, Cândido Alves.
He said that the traffic has already been conformation, with 10 kilometers of earthworks, and the prospect is 20 kilometers of earthworks this year.
The earthworks and paving of 82 kilometers, he said, could take place in 2025, after this company benefits from part of the initial payment for the acquisition of equipment that will be used until the completion of the project, in 2027.
This project has 392 workers, 367 of whom are Angolans who are benefiting from technical knowledge, according to the site manager.
Moxico has about 1,020 kilometers of roads approved to be built by 2027.
The province has only about 600 kilometers paved, of the three thousand and 477 kilometers that make up the region’s road network, and of the nine municipalities, only one (Camanongue) is connected by paved road.
