Lunda Sul completes 84 PIIM projects

Africa-Press – Angola. Eighty-four projects out of the 92 registered in the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) have been completed in Lunda Sul province, said Saturday the director of the Study, Planning and Statistics Office (GEPE), Belarmino Sandungo.

The 92 PIIM projects in Lunda Sul province are budgeted at around 16 billion kwanzas and, so far, more than 14 billion kz have been disbursed in the four municipalities, namely, Cacolo, Dala, Muconda and Saurimo.

These are projects linked to the sectors of education, health, energy and water, construction of administrative infrastructures, road layout and asphalting of tertiary streets, sidewalks, curbs, drainage ditches, acquisition of various equipment, among others.

The official said that in addition to the 84 projects concluded, another six are under way, with completion scheduled for the coming months, while two are paralyzed, due to their specificities, and have been transferred to the financial year 2023, with a another budget.

He said they were projects related to earthworks on the Cacolo/Alto-Chicapa and Sombo/Saurimo section, due to the specificity of their physical and financial execution.

As for the school with 48 Special Education classrooms, he said that the project is framed in two programmes, divided into 24 classrooms each (PIIM and Eurobonds).

The 24 classrooms at the PIIM are 100% paid, while the part to be financed by the eurobonds was only paid above 60%, which is why the contractor, depending on the specificity of the project, paralyzed the work, but efforts are being drawn up with Saurimo’s administration, to intercede with the construction company, so that it resumes work, according to the source.

Belarmino Sandungo made it known that works of central subordination are also under way in the province, such as a municipal building, municipal residences, an integrated National Police post and medical posts in the municipalities of Saurimo, Dala and Cacolo.

He said that some companies were sued due to the stoppage of social works, as a result of breach of contract.
