Africa-Press – Angola. The victory of the World Motorsport Championship, by driver Rui Andrade, in the LMP2 category, at the 8 Hours Bahrain, increases the responsibility of all Angolans towards the sport.
According to the Secretary of State for Sports, Teresa Ulundo, it is now the duty of all Angolans to support the pilot, so that he can achieve new triumphs at international level.
Speaking at the ceremony honoring the athlete, held at the Galeria dos Desportos, in Luanda, he stated that the achievement makes sportsmen and Angolans in general proud.
“Rui did his part, now it’s up to us to do the other part, which involves supporting him”, he said, adding that the country’s business class must look at sport as a serious investment.” Teresa Ulundo said that the success of
the pilot is also the result of the family’s commitment, which never gave up, demonstrating that the support of those closest to us is fundamental to success in high-performance sport.
In the seven World Championship events, the Angolan team only missed out in the first, on the Shrink circuit (USA).
Sequentially, in the following six races, Rui Andrade was always on the podium, namely in Portimão (Portugal), Span-Francorchamps (Belgium), Léman (France), Monza (Italy), Fugi (Japan) and Bahrain (Persian Gulf). ).
This is the first World title for the Angolan, but the second at international level, after having won the European trophy, in the same category, in 2021, at the Portimão circuit, in Portugal.
