Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Malanje has, since Saturday, a new publishing house and bookstore, to meet the demand of readers and students of Social Sciences, Nursing and Medicine courses.
Called “Musseleji”, the bookstore is a private initiative and is dedicated to the edition, sale and orders of books, records and other educational materials, as well as the launch of literary and scientific works.
The opening was made by the head of the Scientific Research Department of the Rectorate of the University Rainha Njinga a Mbande, Alexandre Hongolo, who on the occasion highlighted the value of the unit for academics, given the works that it has and the fact that it is surrounded by institutions of university and secondary education.
He stressed that it responds to the demand for books in Malanje due to the scarcity of bookstores and libraries to meet the academic life of citizens.
In turn, the general director of Editora e Livraria Musseleji, Kibuku Kiajinji, said that he intended to continue working on the production of books and fulfilling orders, with a view to preventing readers from traveling in search of academic or scientific consultation materials in physical and digital formats.
“It is the intention to create a bridge between readers and book suppliers, with a view to ensuring that citizens have reading materials to enhance their intellect”, he stressed, adding that another strategy will include holding book fairs, taking the same next to the reader.
In a first phase, Livraria provided 10 direct jobs.
With this bookstore, the city of Malanje has only three book stores, a provincial library, a mobile library and a media library, the latter for consultation purposes only.
