The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, is, since Monday, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for a four-day working visit, during which he holds several meetings with local companies technology sector, says a note sent.
Among the meetings, the one held with G42, a company devoted to technological development in the UAE, stands out. The G42 is responsible for implementing the Digital Transformation Program (Digital Angola 2024)”, part of the memoranda of understanding signed in December last year, during the official visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the United Arab Emirates.
Yesterday, Minister Mário Oliveira, who is accompanied by the director of the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), André Pedro, attended a presentation by the G42 on “projects under development for Angola aimed at the field of digital transformation” and also visited the “Data Center Apollo” of the referred company, in Abu Dhabi, which will be the model for Angola.
With the implementation of the program, the aim is to position the country as a leading digital economy in Africa, through the implementation of a Smart Angola initiative, which will bring benefits both to the national economy and to citizens.
Within the scope of the memorandum with the UAE, definition was given to the construction of technological solutions aimed at improving the coverage of communication infrastructures and the modernization of customer service services and those related to the electronic operations of the Angolan State.
