Africa-Press – Angola. The administrator of the municipality of Matala, Manuel Quilende, defended, last Friday, in Lisbon, Portugal, his doctoral thesis on the theme: “The Country Brand and the Attraction of Foreign Direct Investment: The Case of Angola”.

According to the thesis summary, the objective of the study was to contribute to the understanding of the perception that businesspeople and investors have regarding the determinants of the country brand that most influence the choice of Angola as an investment location.

To this end, the author used the quantitative method through an exploratory and descriptive approach, as well as non-probabilistic convenience sampling, with a total sample of 455 investors, the document states.

According to Manuel Quilende, respondents responded, online and in person, to a questionnaire developed for the study.

In the thesis, the author also adds that the results reveal that investors have a positive global image of Angola.

For the academic, the correlation analysis shows moderate and positive correlation between the dimensions of the country brand and the dimensions of the attraction variable of the motivation for foreign direct investment entry.

From the linear regression analysis carried out, the new PhD highlights that it was possible to identify the determinants of the country brand that most influence the attraction of foreign direct investment in Angola, namely the dimension of tourism, the dimension of exports and investment, the dimension of cultural values ​​and practices and the regulatory framework.

In the research, Manuel Quilende further highlights that the results reveal that most investors choose to invest in Angola due to market demand.
