Militants threaten to dismiss FNLA secretary in Moxico

Africa-Press – Angola. FNLA militants, elders and former combatants, in Moxico province, threatened to remove the first secretary of that party, for having allegedly abandoned the local leadership of the association, shortly after the elections of 24 August 2022.

The decision came out of a meeting held at one of the party’s facilities, in which 27 members of the FNLA participated, even choosing the militant Jaime Candala, as the interim secretary, until the holding of the extraordinary meeting.

In view of this situation, the current provincial secretary, Martins Coji Dias, said he had reported such an “illegal action” to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) who advised the two parties to reach an understanding, respecting the law.

“The non-conformists were advised to abstain from the act and opt for reconciliation, observing the Law and the party’s statute, for the sake of our progress”, he said.

Regarding his absence, he said that he had been in Luanda looking for a solution for the subsidies of the 1,206 list delegates and then followed a period of convalescence.

He recalled that this group of “denial militants” wants to see him out of the party leadership and demands the delivery of the keys to the party headquarters and the vehicle, in addition to other threats he suffers in his own residence.

In the general elections of August 24, won by the MPLA, with 51.17 percent, corresponding to three million 209 thousand 429 votes, electing 124 deputies, the FNLA won 1.06% (66 thousand 337 votes) and elected two deputies.

UNITA won 43.95 percent, the result of two million 756 thousand 786 votes and elected 90 deputies, followed by the PRS with 1.14% (71 thousand 351 votes and two seats) and the PHA with 1.02% (63 thousand 749 votes and two deputies).

CASA-CE obtained 0.76% (47 thousand 446 votes) and did not obtain any seat in the National Assembly, like APN, which had 0.48% (30 thousand 139 votes) and P-NJANGO with 0.42 % (26 thousand 867 votes).
