Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, stated, last Saturday, in Saurimo (Lunda Sul), that “companies in the sector must establish a closer relationship with neighboring communities, implementing social projects that contribute to local development”.
During the launch of the construction of 300 social housing intended for the adequate resettlement of families close to the Luele mining area, on the outskirts of Saurimo, which will be inaugurated today, the minister highlighted the importance of companies, in addition to paying taxes and fees, also assuming social responsibilities and work in collaboration with local communities.
When presenting the project, architect António Campos said that the area defined for each house is 400 square meters. The items included in the project also include the construction of a school, a medical center, eight stores, five sobas, a police station and other services.
Without detailing costs and execution time, the engineer highlighted the fact that the defined actions aim to guarantee convenience, safety and balance with the environment.
The Regedor of Luele applauded the initiative. It bodes prosperity in the exploration of the mine, in order to generate wealth and happiness for all Angolans.
The administrator of ENDIAMA MINING, Pedro Galiano, who coordinates the Luele project, reaffirmed his commitment to developing the mine, without neglecting social responsibility towards the communities.
The population reacted euphorically to the step taken towards realizing the dream of owning their own home in a residential area designed to guarantee a supply system, water, multi-sports field, garden and a physical structure for interaction with traditional leaders.
In the end, the municipal administrator of Saurimo, Adérito Cahanga, emphasized that traditional authorities are closely monitoring the progress of the project, which, just a few days before the inauguration, will witness the laying of the cornerstone for the construction of decent housing for the communities that they represent.
In addition to the Minister of Territorial Administration, António da Fonseca, the event was attended by the governor of Lunda Sul, Daniel Neto, the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio da Rosa Victor, the president of the Board of Directors of Endiama, Ganga Júnior , members of local government and traditional authorities.
