Africa-Press – Angola. The judge-president of the Military Court of the Southern Region, Colonel Ernesto Bento, warned the staff of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) about the risks of incurring military crimes, the most common being those of insubordination, loss and deterioration of military goods , as well as indecent conduct.

The clarification was made today, Tuesday, during a lecture on “The Law of Military Crimes and Their Effects”, as part of the commemorations of the 44th anniversary of MININT, to be marked on the 22nd of the current month, highlighting that this segment of military bodies is also liable for military crimes, when their conduct constitutes a violation of Law 4/94, in its Article 2.

According to the military judge, only members of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), National Police (PN) and other paramilitary forces are responsible for committing military crimes.

Ernesto Bento underlined that situations that do not constitute crimes, but constitute a disciplinary infraction, must be dealt with by the heads of bodies, in accordance with the disciplinary regulations in force in each department of the Ministry of the Interior.

He also appealed for the need to beware of the disciplinary situations of criminals, with a view to applying solid and fair justice in the application of sanctions on the staff.

In turn, the MININT Delegate and Provincial Commander of the National Police, Commissioner Divaldo Martins, reinforced that the application of disciplinary sanctions is the responsibility of direct hierarchical superiors, for which reason they must exhaust the internal disciplinary procedures, before sending the files to bodies external.

The event was attended by members of the MININT Delegation, Provincial Command of the Police, base staff of the various executive bodies, from the province of Huíla.
