Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Territorial Administration, Dionísio da Fonseca, called today, in Moçâmedes, for the reorganization and greater dynamism of the residents’ committees, as this is one of the paths to follow in the chapter of administrative decentralization.
The minister, who was speaking at the meeting he held with the members of the Community Consultation Council, said that it was necessary for the organizations to be properly structured, since they were expected to play a major role in the chapter of administrative decentralization, depending on the municipalities to be be implemented in the country in the future.
With that, he also highlighted that the residents’ commissions have an important role in the chapter of the implementation of the government action.
This committee of residents, as addressed by the minister, also has the role of raising awareness in the community on the issue of public vandalism, having stated that the Executive is making great efforts in the implementation of social and economic equipment, schools, posts and health centers water and energy distribution systems, but also with great sadness, it is witnessing various acts of vandalism of public goods making them available to the population.
“We want, through the residents’ councils, to work for the conservation and preservation of these public goods”, he said.
He also appealed to the residents’ commissions to work together with the municipal administrations on the issue of toponymy, an issue that satisfied the minister in the municipality of Moçãmedes, but which should also be done in the others so that people can know the location of the streets and cities, especially visitors.
The Minister of Territory Administration has been on a working visit to Namibe province since last Sunday, where he visited works in progress in the five municipalities, Moçãmedes, Bibala, Camucuio, Virei and Tômbwa.
