Minister defends the creation of a cultural agenda in restaurants

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Nzau, defended, on Friday, in Luanda, the need to create a cultural agenda in the catering sector, to promote tourism in Angola.

According to Filipe Nzau, who was speaking to the press at the end of the meeting between UNACA and the catering operators, he considered it important to strengthen partnerships to encourage tourism and promote the employability of artists.

“Tourists come to Angola to taste the gastronomy, discover the music, dance, theater and museums”, he said.

For the implementation of the cultural agenda in restaurants and the like, the minister explained that, in a first phase, the restaurants will be identified by area, having mentioned the Island of Luanda as an essentially touristic place, where musicality will be one of the postcards, for not there is so much problem of noise pollution.

Filipe Zau said that they will also establish a price list to avoid possible speculation between the parties involved in the contracts.

As for the training of restaurant employees, he explained that schools have been created for this purpose in some hotels in the country, with a view to raising quality and efficiency, providing competitive tourism.

Without advancing dates for the formalization of the agreement between UNAC and the Restoration Operators, he stressed that all efforts are being made to create a cultural agenda in a short time that enhances culture and tourism in the country.

On his turn, the president of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC), Zeca Moreno, considered that the presence of artists in the catering sector will impact the appreciation of national culture and make visitors aware of the true essence of Angolans.

In his opinion, this cooperation with the hotel chain, resorts and catering, will not only allow the creation of work spaces for artists, but will also be the motivation and the lure for Angolans and beyond, to frequent the places that are a niche for the economy.

The President of the Association of Hotels and Resorts of Angola (AHRA), Ramiro Barreira, warned that excessive police control at weekends on the island of Luanda should be taken into account, as it makes customers fearful.

He explained that there is a lack of cultural life in the country, arguing that only dynamization can reverse the situation.

The meeting aimed to establish cooperation goals between the identified institutions, in order to provide conditions for the development of cultural and recreational activities, stimulating the expansion of domestic and international tourism in Angola.
