Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, found, this Wednesday, in the city of Luena, northern Moxico province, that buildings are in poor condition.
Accompanied by the provincial governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, the minister noted the critical condition of the well-known Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) and DRM buildings, as well as the Messi building.
In addition to the residential buildings, Carlos Alberto dos Santos noted the current state of Complexo Escolar no 338, “Camarada Tchifutchi”, the largest teaching unit in the province, with 52 classrooms, which faces problems of infiltration and flooring.
At the end of the visit, the director told the press that a team from the Angolan Engineering Laboratory could travel to Luena, in the next few days, to assess, in depth, the technical staff of the referred buildings.
He added that, if necessary, conditions will be created for relocating the population to safe areas.
In the province of Moxico, a total of 25 buildings in a poor state of conservation were catalogued, requiring technical interventions.
Data from the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing indicate that the country registers 509 buildings that present inappropriate conditions for habitability, of which 100 are at risk of demolition.
