Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technology, and Media, Mario Oliveira, emphasized on Monday in Luanda, China’s collaboration at various levels as an essential tool that has helped develop the country’s economy.
Speaking at the opening of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce conference promoted by local TVZimbo, Oliveira acknowledged the positive impact of Chinese-funded projects on the country’s modernization and the growth of trade between the two states, which has boosted exports and created investment and employment opportunities.
“Strengthening trade relations between China and Angola has proven to be a key pillar in boosting our economy. Trade has grown significantly, boosting Angolan exports and creating investment and employment opportunities that benefit Angolans,” said the minister.
Oliveira praised China’s contribution to infrastructure construction to leverage the national media business sector and advocated diversifying existing cooperation to include initiatives that favor industrialization and technology transfer.
“In recent years, China’s contribution to building infrastructure to boost the national media sector has been significant. There has also been increased exchange in training and capacity building for Angolan staff, contributing to the new dynamics of China’s information and communication society,” said Oliveira.
The minister explained that major Chinese brands in telecommunications and computing, which are recognized worldwide, are contributing significantly to Angola’s national digital economy.
He said that technological transformations and innovations are boosting various national industries in Angola, creating thousands of jobs and enhancing human capital. The minister urged Chinese investors to continue applying their intellectual capabilities and technological expertise to invest more in infrastructure and connectivity.
The event also provided an opportunity for the minister to reiterate his support for technological innovation and digitization in business sectors, fostering an environment conducive to investments and partnerships that promote long-term development.
The conference, titled “The Influence of China’s Business Sector on the National Economy,” aims to address the Sino-Angolan investment and business cooperation value chain to build a more diversified, sustainable, and competitive economy.
It aimed to strengthen economic, business, and trade relations between the two countries by highlighting the strategic role of national companies in the internationalization of the Angolan economy.
The meeting brought together business leaders, academics, public and private managers, and financial institution representatives to reflect on key issues for strengthening business between Angola and China.
