Africa-Press – Angola. The new Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, promised this Friday to work hard to ensure the delivery of gasoline cards to subsidy the current price, quoted at 300 kwanzas.

Speaking to the press, after taking office, the official assured that he will work with the financial system so that the aforementioned cards can be delivered to officially licensed taxi drivers and motorcycle taxi drivers.

“We will do everything so that the benefit that has been defined can effectively reach citizens, and not weigh too heavily on the costs for the entire national economy”, declared the Minister of State.

He said that to bring the economic reforms underway in the country to a “successful port” he will need the support of the entire business community, other economic agents and citizens.

“Only in this perspective will we be able, together, to overcome the great challenges facing our economy”, he expressed.

José Massano said that the government has a set of responsibilities to ensure that the inflation targets can be achieved.

“We have the central bank with primary responsibility. But there is still a set of deficiencies, also of a structural nature, which are the responsibility of the Government”, he underlined.

He stated that the Executive will act efficiently, given the limited resources, to ensure that price stability is a reality and thus create conditions to preserve income and protect the quality of life of citizens.

José de Lima Massano took office, Friday, in a ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic and holder of the Executive Branch, João Lourenço.

Before this appointment, which took place on Thursday (8), the new Minister of State for Economic Coordination held the position of Governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), since December 7, 2022.

Meanwhile, José de Lima Massano had already been governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) between October 2010 and January 2015.

Likewise, from 2006 to 2010, he was chairman of the executive committee of Banco Africano de Investimentos (BAI).

He holds a master’s degree in management and auditing from the City University of London and a degree in economics from the University of Salford, Manchester, England.
