Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, condemned the act of vandalism carried out by supporters of Sagrada Esperança, in Saturday’s defeat against Petro de Luanda, at the Dundo stadium.

The official asked the bodies involved, with emphasis on the Angolan Football Federation, to carry out an inquiry to determine what really happened in the match of the 27th round of the National Football Championship “Girabola2022-23” and to hold the offenders accountable.

“It is with deep pain and concern that the Ministry of Youth and Sports became aware of the incidents that occurred Saturday, at the Dundo stadium, in the game between Sagrada Esperança and Petro de Luanda, valid for the 27th round of Girabola”, he said.

He referred to the balance sheet of the security forces that found 11 wounded and five in serious condition, of which one was a member of the National Police.

In the ministerial audio, this Sunday, Palmira Barbosa appeals to all sports agents to observe, in this final part of the championship, the spirit of the main sporting values, namely fair play, respect for the opponent, tolerance and the sporting truth.

At the end of the communication, the former captain of the National Handball Team reiterated the appeal to the federation of the sport in order to rigorously investigate the real motivations for what happened and hold the perpetrators severely responsible, so that acts of the kind do not happen again in sports venues .

After the 2-1 victory, Petro de Luanda leads Girabola with 62 points, while Sagrada Esperança is third with 49 points. 1.o de Agosto is in second place with 57 points.
