Africa-Press – Angola. Angola could host, in 2026, the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) World Championship, if it meets the conditions required by the International Federation of the sport, including the logistical component.

Speaking (Sunday) on the phone, the president of the Federation, Armando Diogo, informed that in addition to Angola, China and the USA were also selected, during the General Assembly of the body that governs the sport in the world, held last Thursday (23), in Albania.

“The country that meets all the conditions will be chosen to host this important competition” – said the official.

He indicated that the proposal will be presented to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for due treatment.

The immediate competitions, he specified, will be organized by Mexico, in 2025, while next year (2024), by a country to be nominated by the International Federation.

The federative leader took the opportunity to take stock of the National Team’s participation in the World Championship held in the city of Tirana (Albania), having occupied third place with one silver and two bronze medals.

The silver medal was won by Nickas Helander, in seniors in the 120 KG, while the bronze medals were won by Wilson Manuel (in juniors), in the 52.KG and Hélder Manuel (seniors) +120 KG.

Angola competed with fighters Hélder Manuel +120 kg, Niclas Herlander +120 kg, Nkunga Vakanda 56.7 kg (Junior) and Wilson Manuel (52.kg)

It also included the presence of Maurício Pascoal 56.7kg, Clelio Gomes 65.7kg, Pedro Calembele (70.3kg), Luan Chaka (83.9kg), Mário Stefan 92.9kg José Txambunga -120kg, Matias Monteiro 65.7kg (Juniors) and Leonardo Pascoal 61.2kg.

He informed that after the country failed to win the Gold medal in the Albanian competition, attention will be turned to defending the title in the African championship, taking place in May next year, in Namibia.
