Africa-Press – Angola. The Tata Uhayele Project dubbed “Take Care of Your Health” began on Tuesday (24), at the Luacano railway station, in the eastern province of Moxico Leste, the 6th and final medical expedition of Year Zero, which consists of providing medical and pharmaceutical assistance to the population.

According to a press release, the activity concludes the experimental cycle of providing primary health care, inside medical carriages, to the populations residing along the Lobito-Luau railway corridor.

The initiative is promoted by the Ngana Zenza Foundation for Community Development (FDC), in partnership with the Benguela Railway (CFB) and private entities specialized in the area of health.

It brought essential clinical services to communities in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxico, regions where high rates of child vulnerability are recorded.

The First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, as the driving force behind the initiative, considered this final stage of Year Zero a milestone in building sustainable solutions to reduce inequalities in access to healthcare, mainly among youngsters.

According to Ana Dias Lourenço, FDC intends to expand the project to the Moçâmedes (CFM) and Luanda (CFL) railways.

She asked entrepreneurs and businesspeople based along the Lobito Railway to join and support this project.

Under the premise that “Every Citizen has the Right to Health,” in this final phase, the project prioritized, in addition to children and adolescents from 15 days to 17 years old, adults and citizens up to the elderly, ensuring medical consultations in the specialties of pediatrics, general and family medicine, gynecology and optometry, with screenings and diagnosis, advice and health education.

In this final Edition, whose service ends on Wednesday (25), two health professionals are available for each specialty, as well as clinical analysis laboratory services and a pharmacy that guarantees essential medicines.

Phase Zero began in 2025, with the fundamental objective of bringing basic primary health and health education services to communities along the railway line.

The project has the support of the Ministry of Health, the National Institute of Medical Emergencies (INEMA), the Central Purchasing and Supply Agency for Medicines and Medical Supplies, among other institutions.
