The proposal for the elevation of Cafunfo, currently located in the district of Cuango, province of Lunda-Norte, to the category of municipality, within the framework of the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA), will reinforce investment initiatives with socio-economic impact for the local populations.
The guarantee was given, Saturday, in that locality, by the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Deolinda Vilarinho, during her intervention in the act of presentation of her party’s Political Agenda 2023, where she declared that the idea of Cafunfo gaining new administrative status, aims to , essentially, ensure the promotion of local development.
The authorities and inhabitants of Lunda-Norte support the vision of President João Lourenço who responded favorably to the proposal to increase the number of municipalities in the province. This, said the official, will contribute significantly to improving the living conditions of the population.
The MPLA’s first secretary recalled that the project envisages that, in addition to the current ten, the province will gain 19 new municipalities, bringing a total of 29 districts. The Executive, as he declared, is working on creating conditions for the implementation of the new Political-Administrative Division, a project that includes the elevation of communal entities and other localities to the category of municipalities.
As in other provinces of the national territory, for Lunda-Norte, the DPA aims to comply with the demands of demographic growth, expansion of services in population agglomerations, geographical limits and socio-economic infrastructures, in line with the strategy of party leader.
The president of the MPLA, according to Deolinda Vilarinho, points to the reduction of asymmetries, the promotion of harmonious development, quality in the organization of the provision of essential services to the population, as some of the main advantages of the new Political-Administrative Division.
He recalled that the proposal of the DPA, elected the locations of Dundo, Cafunfo, Calumbia, Caita, Capaia, Xá-Cassau, Caluango, Camaxilo, Luangue, Luremo, Camissombo, Luía, Cachimo, Canzar, Iongo, Cassanje-Calucala, Xinge, Muvuluege and Mussungue, to be elevated to the category of municipalities. For Cafunfo, particularly, the perspectives of the party that governs the country, are centered on attracting more investments to sectors of crucial economic importance, such as Agriculture, Livestock and Diamonds, he said.
He stressed that the intention was to strengthen mechanisms for promoting business activity, creating wealth for the country, increasing domestic food production and increasing employment for local youth.
The agricultural, mining, water and other potentialities of Cafunfo, justify having the status of municipality, defended Deolinda Vilarinho.
Reducing the unemployment rate is one of the priorities of the MPLA’s Political Agenda, since youth “is the main target of all action and the key to the success of the programmed tasks”, he said.
He exhorted that social fringe to play the role of the vanguard, with a view to preserving social peace, for the realization of the party’s designs, refraining from practices that lead to the vandalization of public goods and riots.
