Africa-Press – Angola. The Border Guard Police (PGF) in Lunda Norte prevented, over the weekend, attempts at the illegal entry of 569 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) into Angolan territory, with the aim of settling in areas of diamond exploration and reach the country’s capital, Luanda.

According to a note from the National Police sent this Monday, the immigrants, accompanied by 104 children, were expelled from the border posts in Chissanda, Tchicolondo and Lóvua.

The immigrants, continues the note, tried to use “fiotes” paths without the supervision of the PGF agents. Their detention only occurred due to the denunciation of citizens residing along the border.

The police appeal to the population to continue collaborating with the authorities, denouncing, above all, the aid to immigration.

The province of Lunda Norte shares a border of about 770 kilometers with DRC .
