Africa-Press – Angola. Sixty-four thousand and 977 families from the municipalities of Seles, Ebo and Quilenda (Cuanza Sul) have benefited, in the last three years, from the monetary amounts of the Kwenda programme, in an investment estimated at 4.6 billion kwanzas.
The information was given this Thursday, in the city of Sumbe, by the provincial director of the Institute of Local Development (FAS), Carolina Sanito, adding that the quarterly income of 25,500 kwanzas was delivered directly to the beneficiary families.
He referred that the 42,297 households registered in the municipality of Cassongue, the fourth in the province to benefit from Kwenda, will receive the first payment in the coming days.
“Kwenda in Cuanza Sul is running smoothly and is allowing the inclusion of disadvantaged families in income-generating activities”, he stressed.
In Cuanza Sul, 117,402 households are registered, in 12 communes and 955 neighborhoods and villages in the municipalities of Seles, Ebo, Quilenda and Cassongue.
Created in 2020, Kwenda is an Angolan Executive program, which aims to create policies to support the most vulnerable families.
Operationalized by the Social Support Fund, the project lasts for three years and covers four components, namely Social Monetary Transfers, Productive Inclusion, Municipalization of Social Action and reinforcement of the Single Social Register.
It is valued at US$420 million and is funded by the World Bank with US$320 million. The other 100 million come from the National Treasury.
