According to the official, who presented the current situation of Angolans in Namibia, the convicts, all male, were accused of illegal immigration, poaching, rape, assaults using firearms and attempted murder.

Likewise, they are in prison for money laundering, counterfeiting foreign currency, manufacturing and selling drugs, illegal logging, cattle theft and domestic violence.

Sílvia Lopes informed that some minor crimes could be converted into fines, but due to the inmates’ lack of financial conditions, they are obliged to serve their sentence in full.

He made it known that in the city of Rundu live approximately 69,700 Angolan citizens, who emigrated for various reasons.

On the other hand, he informed that the consulate carried out, in the period between October 2021 and May of this year, 1,164 birth registrations, issued 1,285 Identity Cards, 45 ordinary passports, 76 safe-conducts and carried out the transfer of seven corpses.
