Moxico: FNLA confident in the election of at least one deputy

Africa-Press – Angola. The FNLA is confident in the election of a deputy to the National Assembly by the provincial constituency of Moxico, in the next general elections on 24 August, said the secretary for Information in the province.

Pahama Chiyolo said that the FNLA is, in terms of Moxico, working to compete on equal terms with the other candidates in the elections.

“We are doing everything so that we can, for the first time, elect a deputy for the Moxico constituency”, declared the politician, adding that, for this purpose, the FNLA will intensify its work at the municipal level, where the electorate needs to be informed to that you are prepared to vote on 24 August.

The politician pointed to internal problems as the main reason for the failure of the FNLA in the previous elections. “With the problems that divided the party for a long time resolved, we are now in a position to campaign well, towards victory in these elections”, he said.

Pahama Chiyolo also acknowledged that the high level of political maturity of the political parties competing in the general elections is quite high, which, in her view, leads to the assumption that the 24 August election will be more disputed.

In the 2017 elections, the FNLA was the fifth most voted party in Moxico, with 0.72%; behind the MPLA, with 76.20%; UNITA (17.18%), PRS (2.84%) and CASA-CE (2.69%). The party then led by Lucas Ngonda was just above the last ranked APN, with 0.36%.
