Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Luena, capital of the province of Moxico, is experiencing a fuel shortage (diesel) at the city’s main gas stations.
A patrol conducted by the agency found a shortage of this product at all gas stations in the region, creating constraints for motorists.
At Pumangol, one of the main gas stations, the product has not been sold for three days, according to a local source, who explained that there are “failures” in distribution by SONANGOL.
“This problem has been going on for over a week. We’ve been receiving the product for days, but very little,” he added, adding that the gas station will only resume selling diesel on Tuesday.The same situation was observed at the Sacalunda gas station, managed by SONANGOL, which was empty, with no traffic due to a lack of fuel.
According to a source at that gas station, the company is receiving very small quantities from SONANGOL, meaning it is only available for sale within a few hours.
“At this time, we have no confirmation of when we will receive diesel again,” he confided.
The same situation occurred at other gas stations, particularly those located in the Popular and Aço neighborhoods, all managed by the state-owned oil company.
Constraints
The shortage of this product is causing losses for motorists, especially truck drivers, who claim they are stuck in Luena, causing disruptions to their planning.
Eduardo Mateus, who transported food from the country’s capital to the city of Luena, a journey of over 1,300 kilometers, said he has been “stranded” in this region for three days, at a time when he plans to return to Luanda to renew his fleet.
“Unfortunately, it’s difficult. We have other commitments with customers, but we can’t get out,” he lamented.
Similarly, motorist Júlio António, who works for a telecommunications company, said he is also unable to travel to perform maintenance on the services he provides to municipal administrations and advocates for measures to resolve the problem.
