Africa-Press – Angola. Twelve drug addicts in recovery at the women’s wing of Fazenda da Esperança, in Chiumbo commune, Cachiungo municipality, Huambo province, celebrated, Monday, an early Christmas, in an initiative of the MPLA Provincial Committee.
The drug addicts were awarded, during the solidarity party, led by the secretary of the Department of Political, Electoral, Economic and Social Affairs of the MPLA Committee in Huambo province, Daniel Maurício Soi, with moments of joy, interaction and a fraternization lunch.
At the same time, the MPLA also delivered, in the municipality of Cachiungo, a batch of different foodstuffs, including rice, sugar, pasta and vegetable oil.
On the occasion, Daniel Maurício Soi said that the gesture served to provide a moment of joy to drug addicts at this time of the festive season (Christmas and New Year’s Eve) and, at the same time, transmit them a message of consolation, comfort and encouragement, so that they can comply with the requirements established by the institution for their recovery.
According to the supporter, despite the situation they are in, they continue to be useful to society.
Therefore, he appealed to hope in God and to fight for a speedy recovery, so that they can be promptly reintegrated into society.
“Do not be discouraged, as we have been waiting for you to embrace the challenges of satiety as future leaders of the country”, he stressed.
The current female wing of Fazenda da Esperança, belonging to the Catholic Church, along with the male wing, also located in the municipality of Cachiungo, was inaugurated on June 5, 2021.
With a capacity to accommodate more than 40 drug addicts, it currently controls 12, aged between 16 and 50, from the provinces of Benguela, Bié, Huambo and Luanda.
The recovery of the same is based on three aspects: namely in the commitment to work, in the spiritual life and in coexistence.
Created more than 100 years ago, the institution, which previously operated at the headquarters of the municipality of Cachiungo, has already recovered more than 200 ladies, until then consumers of drugs and other substances harmful to health.
MPLA honors militants
At another time, guided by the first secretary of the MPLA in Huambo province, Lotti Nolika, militants of different levels were honored with honorable mentions for their commitment and dedication in mobilizing for the conquest of the general elections of last August 24th.
Among those awarded by the MPLA, which in the last electoral process obtained, in the provincial circle of Huambo, 308 thousand 731 votes, electing three deputies, from a total of 561 voters, are leaders of sports organizations and civil society.
