MPLA Considers Opposition Leader'S Comments Unpatriotic

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA Politburo encouraged the party’s President João Lourenço to remain firm in leading events that foster unity among Angolans, “despite the irresponsible, untimely, and unpatriotic statements made by the opposition leader”.

This statement is contained in the final communiqué of the 4th Ordinary Meeting of the MPLA Political Bureau, held under the leadership of President João Lourenço at the Futungo II Complex in Luanda.

The ruling party’s Politburo, therefore, welcomes the ongoing distinction process in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, with a special focus on the signatories of the Alvor Agreement.

The meeting aimed to review and approve measures to strengthen the organization and functioning of the Party’s structures, as well as to evaluate the MPLA’s political and administrative performance during the current year.

According to the agenda, the Political Bureau discussed the topic “Local Content in the Short, Medium and Long Term – the Experience of the Oil Sector”, the analysis of which was approved and recommended for consideration at the 9th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee.

During the meeting, the Political Bureau Secretariat’s report on activities carried out in the 2025’s 2nd quarter was also approved, as well as the Disciplinary Committee (DC) report for the aforementioned period.

The Bureau also approved the proposed Annual Activity Plan and its corresponding Budget for 2026, instruments that guide the execution of the Party’s political and organizational priorities.

In the area of training, the topic of training the party’s cadres to address current and future challenges was analyzed, and the Revitalization Plan for the National Party School was approved, with the aim of strengthening the political and technical knowledge of its members.

The meeting also considered and approved draft resolutions on filling vacancies on the Central Committee, as part of the renewal and internal strengthening of party structures.

The Political Bureau acknowledged the progress of the organizational process for the 8th Ordinary Congress of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), encouraging members to continue their greater involvement and active participation in the country’s political and social activities.

The organization reaffirmed its unconditional support for President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, for his leadership of the Party and the country, and expressed solidarity with the State of the Nation Address delivered by the Head of State on Oct 15th in the National Assembly, as it reflects the MPLA’s commitment to development, stability, and national unity.
