Africa-Press – Angola. A donation made up of food, agricultural material, mattresses, used clothing, disposable diapers, soap and medicine kits were delivered, in Caxito, Bengo province, to populations affected by the rains and floods of the Dande River.

The initiative, coming from the MPLA parliamentary group, aims to support populations resettled in relocation centers in neighborhood 25, Mabubas and Sassa Pedreira communes.

These are families from the Bula, Kawango, Bucula, Kaludende, Bairro 8, Baxeira do Kissoma and Mussungo neighborhoods.

At the time of delivery, the president of the MPLA parliamentary group, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira, explained that the donation aims to minimize the need of the affected families and demonstrate the parliamentarians’ solidarity with the population of Bengo.

He assumed that the parliamentary group will advocate with State bodies, at central level, so that there is more support.

He asked families to stop building in risk areas and follow the authorities’ advice.

The governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, guaranteed the support of the provincial government in improving the social conditions of families.

This support also includes the delivery of material for the construction of homes and agricultural instruments and inputs.
