Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Committee of the MPLA of Cuanza Norte honored, this Wednesday, in Ndalatando, 200 former leaders and cadres of the party, at regional level, in a gala held at the Alda Lara Cultural Center.
At the event, part of the celebrations of September 17th – National Hero’s Day, some older members were also honored for their dedication to the party’s cause, distinguishing them with certificates of merit.
Addressing those present, the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Pedro Makita Armando Júlia, highlighted that the objective is to bring former leaders closer to the new generations, to exchange experiences and pass on testimonies.
In addition to the fraternization, he continued, the event allowed creating moments of interaction and the transmission of political-ideological knowledge.
He added that the event also contributed to promoting the unity and internal cohesion of the militants, facilitating joint work to materialize the party organization’s programs.
The event honored the former first municipal secretaries, former members of the provincial and municipal executive committees, provincial and municipal committees and secretariats of the MPLA, JMPLA and OMA.
Gilberto Calombe, one of the honorees, valued the initiative and requested more events of this nature.
David Buba, another of the honorees, considered the initiative to be of great value, as it brought together the various generations of the MPLA, who ensured the organization at different stages of its history.
The former first secretary of the party in the municipalities of Cazengo and Quiculungo highlighted that these initiatives contribute to a good transition of the legacy from one generation to another, allowing “the younger ones not to forget the older ones”.
During the gathering, the activists highlighted the importance of reflecting on the need to create an honor committee of former party leaders in the province.
