Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the ruling MPLA party expressed on Tuesday in Luanda, deep dismay at the death of former Justice and Human Rights Minister Rui Jorge Carneiro Mangueira, who passed away after a long illness.

In a note of condolences obtained, the party recalled that Mangueira joined the struggle for national independence early on after becoming involved in the Angolan Pioneers Organization (OPA) and the youth wing of the MPLA, where he stood out for his commitment to the cause.

Throughout his career as a jurist and diplomat, Mangueira held important positions, including Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of Justice and Human Rights. He also worked on diplomatic missions at Angolan embassies in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

The Political Bureau emphasizes that Mangueira’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his colleagues and comrades, and highlights his dedication, loyalty, friendship, and conciliatory nature.

On behalf of the party members, supporters, and friends, the MPLA extends its deepest condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family, recognizing Rui Mangueira’s invaluable contribution to the Angolan people and the MPLA’s cause.
