Africa-Press – Angola. The Political Bureau of the MPLA Central Committee on Thursday congratulated the Angolan President and African Union Chairperson, João Lourenço, for the diplomatic leadership shown in the process that culminated, in Washington, with the signing of the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.
In a statement made public, the political body highlighted that the understanding reached represents a historic milestone for the continent, as it reflects the triumph of dialogue and African diplomacy, as well as the Angolan statesman’s commitment to regional stability, the prevention of conflicts and the promotion of sustainable peaceful solutions.
The document highlights that Angola’s active intervention, guided by the Head of State, reinforces the country’s international prestige and demonstrates the ability to build consensus and promote cooperation between nations in the region.
The Political Bureau expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the search for peace in the Great Lakes region and hoped that the agreement signed would contribute to the return of definitive stability to the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and also reaffirmed his support for actions aimed at consolidating security, integration and harmonious development on the African continent.
