Africa-Press – Angola. The Mentoring program of the “Muhatu Energy Angola” network will work with experienced women in the oil sector to boost their career progression, as well as encourage new talents to join the specialty.

The information was provided, this Tuesday, by the president of the network, Natacha Massano, during the act of presentation of the referred program, an act honored by the first lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.

On the occasion, the president made it known that Muhatu Energy’s objective is to dedicate itself to women, understanding their problems and sharing experiences, aiming at more opportunities in career advancement and an increase in the number of women in the sector.

He made it known that women represent 14 percent of the sector in the country, and a good part is in the process of reaching retirement.

Despite being an innovative industry, the numbers are still not satisfactory, hence the need to reduce gender disparity, a situation that forced the network to carry out a demographic study.

Regarding the areas, he stressed that in terms of control and operations it is reasonable, as the big difference is related to the provision of services and management positions, as the majority performs technical functions.

He lamented the fact that few young women are entering the industry, which will lead the network to look for new talent in schools.

Muhatu Energy Angola is an initiative of women working in the oil sector, to promote career opportunities and boost talent.

Officially created in March 2022, with the support of oil companies, it has 73 mentees and 45 mentors.
