Africa-Press – Angola. Ilha do Mussulo, one of the main tourist destinations in Luanda, was the choice of national and foreign citizens for the long weekend, due to Peace Day, celebrated on Thursday, the 4th.

At Embarcadouro do Mussulo, it was possible to see, a large flow of people who went to the place to experience moments of leisure, fun and relaxation.

According to tourist Nárcia Pinto, Ilha do Mussulo is one of the best tourist places in the country’s capital and a suitable area for those who need to regain their energy to return to work activities with innovative ideas.

António Clemente chose the place to spend the long holiday with his family. “This time we chose to eat Mufete and spend a few hours on Ilha do Mussulo. It was also an opportunity to enjoy the paradisiacal place for some family members.”

Benedito Muango said, on behalf of the Vessel Fleet manager at Embarcadouro do Mussulo, that, since Thursday, the number of customers making the crossing to Ilha do Mussulo had a slight increase.

Currently, he explained, we work with more than 100 properly trained employees and 45 vessels. “Each of the boats carries 12 passengers and the crossing costs a thousand kwanzas,” she said.

Assurance

The maritime delegate of the Capitania do Mussulo, Adão Cassongo, assured that several working groups were created, allocated from Praia da Mabunda, Embarcadouro do Capossoca, Museu da Escravatura and Ilha do Mussulo, to ensure the embarkation and disembarkation of tourists.

Although the exact number of personnel mobilized has not been announced, Adão Cassongo said that, so far, the team is working smoothly in terms of human resources and technical resources. “We have enough capacity to continue our activities normally.”

On Mussulo Island, he continued, several points were created, which are being secured by personnel on standby, to intervene if necessary and guarantee the safety of citizens during these four days.

Since Thursday, April 4th, he reported, more than 1,500 citizens have crossed to Mussulo. At the location, he informed, they have carried out, in the company of other staff, several awareness-raising activities with citizens, so that they observe all the necessary precautions, as well as being guided by the use of inflatable life jackets and not allowing themselves to be distracted by the use of of cell phones on the high seas.

Prohibition

Another recommendation we are giving to sailors is not to obey the request of tourists who wish to go to Ilhéu dos Pássaros and not directly to Ilha do Mussulo. “We are preventing tourists from going to that location, because they are isolated beaches, where we do not have staff on duty to guarantee people’s safety”, he said.

Prenda Hospital

The clinical director of Hospital do Prenda, Manuel Francisco, explained that on the day of the holiday, April 4, the health unit registered a calm movement, where a total of 287 patients were treated, with various pathologies, of which 18 resulted in hospitalizations.

The most common pathologies, he said, were malaria, injuries caused by physical aggression and cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), as complications of high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus.

On Friday, he added, the day was busy, the Emergency Bank treated hundreds of patients, mostly adults. “We believe that the flow of patients is due to the lack of control of blood pressure and decompensated diabetes, during the long weekend. People’s tendency is to abuse what is normal, with the intake of alcoholic beverages and dietary transgressions”, he criticized.

Citizens flock to the passenger terminals

Hundreds of citizens flocked to the air and land passenger terminals in Luanda yesterday, with the aim of spending the long holiday in other provinces of the country.

Paulo Nzinga chose the long holiday to go to the province of Cunene, where he later intends to have access to the neighboring Republic of Namibia. “I’m going to take the opportunity to relax in Cunene, resolve some specific matters and then go to Namibia”, he said. The young Edmilson Jorge, who also chose another part of the country, was waiting for a flight to Benguela.

Interprovincial

Public passenger transport companies going to other provinces also registered a large flow of passengers. At the Huambo Express passenger terminal, Maurício António, accompanied by his family, waited for the departure time of the bus bound for Cuanza-Sul. Like Maurício, young Ana Martins also took advantage of the long holiday to visit her spouse who lives outside of Luanda, due to work.

Mobility

Yesterday, the city of Luanda registered a calm, during the second day of the long holiday. In several locations in Luanda, people and cars circulated normally.
