Africa-Press – Angola. The Namibian Head of State, Hage Geingob, on Tuesday congratulated President João Lourenço on his re-election in the General Elections on the 24th of this month.

In a congratulatory note, the Namibian President considers the re-election to the highest judiciary in the Republic of Angola fair, with 51.17 percent of the votes, and said it augurs this fact to help the Angolan Government to meet the expectations of the people, in terms of development. and social progress of the Nation.

The MPLA leader, João Lourenço, was re-elected on Monday, President of the Republic, being the most voted candidate in the fifth General Elections of 24 August, with 3,209,429 votes. With the victory, the MPLA elects 124 deputies.

UNITA obtained 2,756,786 votes and won 90 seats in Parliament. The third most voted party was the PRS with 71,351 votes, which gives it the right to two deputies.

The FNLA and the PHA are the other two parties that also managed to elect two deputies each. CASA-CE, APN and P-JANGO did not elect any deputy.

For the August 24 elections, 14,399,391 voters were eligible. The number of voters was 6,454,109, equivalent to 44.82% of the total votes. The number of non-voters was 7,945,282, which corresponds to 55.18%.

The number of blank votes was 107,746, which corresponds to 1.67%. 74,259 invalid votes were counted, the equivalent of 1.15%. The number of valid votes was 6,272,104, which corresponds to 97.18%.
