Africa-Press – Angola. In the last 48 hours, the National Police dismantled some diamond mining sites in the municipalities of Chitato and Cambulo, Lunda Norte province, during a micro-operation called “Raio-X”, which aimed to combat the exploitation of the strategic mineral, immigration and fuel smuggling.

The information was provided this Tuesday, in Dundo, by the spokesman for the Provincial Delegation of the Interior in Lunda Norte, Rodrigues Zeca, stressing that during the operation three dredges, 293 gravel washing nets, 25 motorcycles, seven motor pumps were seized , five air pumps and an accumulating electric cutting machine, among other means used for the illegal exploitation of diamonds.

He said that 38 citizens were arrested, of which 28 from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and 10 Angolans, who carried out the activity illegally.

He added that 2,500 liters of smuggled fuel were also seized, 1,775 of which were gasoline and 725 of diesel, which were destined for the DRC.

The operation, he continued, also resulted in the arrest of 104 citizens of the DRC, for illegally entering and leaving the national territory.

He assured that the micro-operation aimed at combating the illegal trafficking and exploitation of diamonds, minors, fuel smuggling and immigration, will continue and calls for the collaboration of the population.
