National team insists on physical improvement

Africa-Press – Angola. The National Football Team for amputees returns today to the pitch of Estádio Municipal dos Coqueiros to continue the preparation, on a bi-daily basis, for the World Cup, scheduled for Turkey, from 30 September to 10 October.

The national coach, Augusto Baptista “Chetu”, and the 24 players who are part of the work start their morning preparation at 10:00 am, which essentially focuses on improving physical condition, with several exercises that require a lot of effort from the members of the national team.

The final part of the morning preparation is dedicated to ball exercises to refine the individual technical quality of the players. Goalkeepers, in turn, perform position-specific training.

The afternoon session is dedicated to training tactical concepts and improving individual technical quality, in order to divide the players into two groups, with the aim of consolidating the interaction between the various sectors of the game.

Yesterday, the national team held two training sessions, where physical work was the dominant focus, although in the afternoon the technical team dedicated a good part of the preparation to work on technical and tactical aspects.

Coach Augusto Baptista “Chetu” told that he was satisfied with the delivery of the players in the training sessions, and the competitiveness that is registered in the group, mainly between the twelve freshmen and the oldest in the National Team.

Taking place since the 25th of June, in bi-daily sessions, the preparation work of the National Team is divided between the Municipal Stadium of Coqueiros and that of Cidadela. The working week of the current world champions begins in the former cathedral of national football, on Mondays, where they also train on Tuesdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the preparation takes place at Municipal dos Coqueiros and, on Saturday morning, the group goes to Ilha do Cabo to close, with a specifically physical training. On Sundays the players enjoy the day off, for a well-deserved rest.

The technical team intends to extend this phase of preparation until the month of August, to continue the work in Huambo province, where the local government is fully available to support the national team.

The squad is complete on Sunday with the arrival of another foreigner who works in Turkey. João das Dores Chiquete joins his companions at the Sequele Concentration Center on Sunday and on Monday takes part in the work of the national team.

The National Team is the holder of the world trophy, won in 2018, and goes to Turkey with the aim of defending the title.
