Africa-Press – Angola. The National Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Team, in the senior and junior categories, embarks today for the city of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the venue for the World Championship that takes place from 5 to 11 November.

The boarding of the 34 selected candidates is scheduled for 1 pm at 4 de Fevereiro International Airport and the stopover is scheduled for Doha, Qatar.

Before boarding, the delegation will go to the Sports Gallery, at the Sports Citadel, to receive the National Flag from the hands of the Minister of Youth and Sports. During the reception ceremony, in the morning, the president of the Angolan MMA Federation, Armando Diogo, reiterates to the group the responsibility of competing on behalf of the country, a reason to fight bravely in order to secure medals.

Since Angola’s rise in the world rankings, the current delegation’s mission is to win the first gold medal in the senior and junior categories, after having achieved the feat in the youth category in August at the World Championship held in Abu Dhabi.

Improving the third position in the world ranking, where it has 9,796 points, is the main objective.

The following juniors will travel to Uzbekistan: Nkunga Vakanda (bantamweight), Ricardo Pireza (lightweight), Milfa Nicolau, Jones Mabungu (super middleweight), Nilza Muhanha (atomweight), Nadir Vieira (featherweight), Maria Kitoko (super lightweight) and Clarence Francisco (super welterweight); the seniors Mafuana Mbungu (flyweight), Leonardo Pascoal, Adalberto Ntyamba (bantamweight), Matias Monteiro, Clélio Diogo (featherweight), Pedro Calembela, William Bombo (lightweight), Tulunda Daniel, Axel Augusto (super lightweight), Mário Stefan (middleweight), Anderson Gouveia, Elias Augusto (super middleweight), Nicklas Herlander, Massanu Mbimba (heavyweight), Hélder Manuel, Elfran Marques (super heavyweight), Esperança Pereira (flyweight), Maria Liberal (lightweight) and Georgina Ludimila (super lightweight).

Jair Yoba, Sousa José, Óscar Assis and Carlos Graça are the coaches.
