Africa-Press – Angola. The National Beach Volleyball Team competes, from Thursday, in Maputo (Mozambique), in the Zone VI Continental Cup, qualifying for the 2024 African Championship.
To this end, the two national pairs (men and women) went to the competition stage this Tuesday, at a time when the technical meeting is already taking place.
These are Bruno Makili-Aristhote Pelenda (men) and Sara Kunga-Geovânia Cusselama (women), in an event that ends on the 26th.
The group, according to the president of the Angolan Federation of the sport, Valentim Domingos, who was speaking this Tuesday in Luanda, the objective of the national combination is to qualify for the African Championship in 2024, in a country yet to be named.
During the preparation, as I said, the athletes participated in some “tours” with emphasis on the one in Mozambique, in March, where the men became champions and then in Namibia, in April, with the country occupying second position (men’s ) and third (fem).
The also called “Continental Cup” is a competition in zone VI involving ten teams. It is played at each end of the Olympic cycle, aiming to qualify for the CAN and then for the Olympic Games.
This is the fourth national presence at an event of its kind. In the last edition, held in 2021, in Namibia, Angola qualified the pairs Eden Cerqueira-Etson Figueiredo and Sara Cunga-Janeth Marta for the African tournament.
