Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, was informed, this Monday, about the integrated project of five railway connection stations to connect the city center to the New International Airport of Luanda.

The explanation of the project, which also includes the construction of a railway branch, was given to the Angolan Head of State during a visit to the new airport, aimed at verifying the level of execution of the infrastructure.

On the occasion, President João Lourenço checked the model of the project that should be completed in June 2023.

The railway connection stations are estimated at US$255 million, while the railway branch is budgeted at US$162 million, including the communications and signaling project.

The branch will have a special viaduct with a double rail line 3.07 kilometers wide. The projected speed for the trains is approximately 120 kilometers per hour.

Named Airport Dr. António Agostinho Neto, the infrastructure is located in the Bom Jesus area, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, in Luanda.

It occupies an area of ​​1,324 hectares and will have capacity for 15 million passengers and a volume of goods of 50 thousand tons per year.
